Janick Peters, Graphic Illustrator

BIOGRAPHY

Janick Peters is a New-Zealand born graphic illustrator. His influences include, but are certainly not limited to; H.R Giger, H. Bosch, M. Grunewald, Mad Marc Rude, Pushead, Simlon Bisley, A. Durer, F. Goya, Frank Frazzeta and Beksinski.

Born in New-Plymouth, Taranaki in 1996, Janick quickly showed interest in art, drawing and painting from a very early age, which continued thruout his schooling years. By the time he graduated Spotswood College high-school in 2013 he had really started evolving, shaping out and finding his unique style.

In 2014 he entered into the Diploma of Creative Technologies at the western institute of technology Taranaki. During his time he really refined his talents and begun to experiment more. His drawing style sits in a lot of line-work and detail, using pencils, fine-tip pens and indian ink, designing obscure, often sexually explicit creatures and monsters of nightmarish realities. It was during this time that he begun to experiment with digital tools, leading to a continued line of work of digital paintings of his ink work. He was also introduced to silk-screen printing, which he took an instant liking to, printing T-shirts and obscure, off-register variations of his drawings.

His work would later delve into the physical world when He built and welded a fully functional twisted Carousel from Pipe, Sawmill sized Saw-Blades, barbed wire and bike parts. The carousel had hunks of meat off-cuts attached to it, including sheep and pig tails, tongues, scrotums and completed with a sausage meat sculpture on top with pig-eyeballs.

With a clearly music-scene, particuarly of rock n' roll nature, based target audience, it is of no suprise he would wind up working with many great musicians both local and worldwide including Cancerslug, Arcane Sugar, Horror Story, Ire Exit and music video production company, Recognition Canada. His design work outside of music also led him to design the race and merch logos for Simon Cudmore Racing.

Self-published at 19 years of age, compiled his first book. Titled Pandemonium and published in October 2015, it contained 60 of janicks self-considered Best-Artworks.

2015 was the year of his first Exhibition, as part of the "TILT" exhibition for the "Diploma in Creative Technologies" graduating students. He was alongside the 16 other artists in his class.

Janick is currently Studying and pursuing the Bachelor of Creative Technologies in Wellington.
